Area Activities

Andaz 5th Avenue is located steps away from some of New York City’s most famous icons: The Beaux-Arts landmark “main branch” building of the New York Public Library is right across the street from our boutique hotel on Fifth Avenue; the Empire State Building is just a few blocks away; and a short stroll will take you to Central Park and its famous zoo. The Bryant Park neighborhood, which hosted Fashion Week for a decade, is not only one of New York’s most fashionable, but also its most walkable areas. It is full of convivial outdoor tables and meeting places (and famously packed with the international food trucks that draw a busy lunchtime crowd in midtown; you’ll find everything on wheels, from shawarma to schnitzel).

Our Andaz hosts have both a solid knowledge and a deep love for NYC; they’ll direct you to Manhattan’s most-visited landmarks, luxury shopping destinations or their own secret favorites. It’s boutique hotel service at its finest.

Grand Central Terminal

Built by  “Commodore” Cornelius Vanderbilt to serve his shipping empire, New York’s central depot has been New York’s busiest crossroads since the 1870s.

Couple Sightseeing

Rockefeller Center

Fewer sights are more recognizable than the ice skating rink; the neon lights of the 1930s Art Deco extravaganza, Radio City Music Hall; and the gargantuan Christmas tree that has lit midtown Manhattan for 75 years.

Times Square

The crowded crossroads has long been the hub for Broadway theatergoers and New Year’s Eve partiers who make the pilgrimage for the annual ball-drop, but in the past decade it has also spruced up, cleaned up, and become one of New York’s most family-friendly playgrounds.

Mother and Son Walking

Madison Square Garden

Carole King and James Taylor; Iron Maiden; giant animatronic dinosaurs: You can see them all, plus the New York Knicks, the Rangers, and of course the contenders when it’s “Fight Night” at what New Yorkers simply refer to as “The Garden.”
